Applied Poetics: childhood (a portal)

15:00–17:00
Facilitated by Bianca Pina

Let's assess the tender stems of childhood, the source from which we came. The child-body as a place of concentrated energy, and therefore (perhaps) a portal back to a potent source of our own energy. All of this in words on a page.

Letting go entirely (for two hours) of any division between self and writer, poet and poem. Staring into the page, a portal (umbilicus, navel) to our pre-self. Following memories to their blurry origins, through objects, through the body's implicit memory, to where sense falls apart and basic desires seek form through voice.

Reaching back past what we know, to a time before the self began to harden.

This workshop is open to practitioners across all forms of art-making, and to anyone wishing to explore this terrain through writing as a starting point for making in any medium.
