The Menstrual Hut - January

Making, Talking, Reflecting

19:00 - 21:00

We will come together to craft masks for the rivers and the river goddesses — an evening of making, listening, and remembering. This is an exciting invitation to reconnect with our creative hands, intuition, and spirituality.

If you feel called, you are invited to bring a story, poem, or fragment of text that speaks of a river — something that flows, carries memory, or whispers transformation.

We’ll bring materials to share for the craft, but you’re very welcome to bring any offerings or materials of your own that feel right.

The Menstrual Hut was conceived and brought to life by a group of like minded women in London, each bringing a unique and powerful perspective to the movement. We are:

Lex Franchi, our artist and co-ordinator with Present Tense, studied sculpture at the Slade School of Art, her practice is rooted in ritual, the moon and menstrual magic. Lex is most well known for her Moonclocks.

Camilla Power, our resident anthropologist. She is the pioneer of ‘Female Cosmetic Coalitions’ and runs the Radical Anthropology Group at UCL.

Hilary Alton, our author, anthropologist, and our special Menstrual Hut Elder.

Christine Binnie, our artist and potter whose public body-painted performances with the Neo Naturists, have been inspired by her anthropological interests.

Heloise Lepinard, our fabulous French Witch, anthropologist, creative and up and coming author.

Freddie Birley, our amazing breath work specialist and founder of her business House of Pop. And finally,

Olivia Knight, all round creative, thinker and furthermore, daughter of Chris Knight whose revolutionary ‘Sex Strike’ theory forms much of the force behind The Menstrual Hut.
