DRAWING WOMEN (READING) is an ongoing life drawing series in which participants draw women reading. Each session centres the model as both subject and author, inviting sustained attention while placing agency and authorship firmly with her. She may read silently or aloud; she may dress or undress as she chooses. The focus is on presence, projection, and the quiet intensity of reading as an erotic, intellectual, and embodied act. Each edition of Drawing Women Reading is shaped by the woman at its centre, her voice, her text, and the conditions she sets for being seen.


Lucy Kumara Moore will read aloud THINGS MEN HAVE GIVEN ME, a new personal essay that moves through memory, idealism, accumulation and exchange. As she reads, participants draw in response to her voice and the space between word and body.
