Field Studies Day 3 ft. JJJJJerome Ellis, Agat Sharma + more

Performance

Field Studies: Present Tense opens with a public evening of performance as part of a five-day teaching residency exploring performance as a form of group research and collective study. The third evening brings together JJJJJerome Ellis, Agat Sharma and further artists, with work emerging from and extending the day’s collective study.

JJJJJerome Ellis: Exposure

JJJJJerome will present a continuing work titled Exposure, a photo series investigating stutter and earth. Ellis approaches different plants and tells them how grateful he is for them, opening the camera’s shutter when he begins to stutter and closing it when the stutter stops. The photographs become “documents of lessons”, with Ellis approaching the plant as teacher and the stutter as a kind of classroom.

Agat Sharma shares Heartbreak, a work developed with the Field Studies: Present Tense participants.

Further performances to be announced.

Each of the evening artists also contributes to the daytime Field Studies programme through workshops, lectures and conversations with participants.7–11 October 2026Full five-day programme and applications: https://field-studies.org/2026-27/present-tense/
