As part of the Applied Poetics series, this collective reading circle and writing workshop explores poetry as a living, embodied practice.

Gathered around the sculptural library created during the residency, we'll read, discuss and respond to texts exploring desire, memory, shelter, transmission and self-knowledge. Through shared reading, writing and reflection, we'll consider what we inherit, what we carry forward, and the forms of shelter we create for ourselves and others.

No previous writing experience is necessary. Just bring your curiosity, a willingness to listen, and whatever you are ready to carry downstream.

Phoenix Yemi is a Nigerian-British poet, artist, and curator whose work is dedicated to resistance through the erotic. Rooted in surrealist traditions of liberation, she works at the intersections of body and earth, desire and dissent, reimagining language to summon new ways of being. She has performed across London in spaces including Tate Modern, the Barbican, and the Serpentine. She writes A Worm Moon for Worms Magazine, and is the founder of Black Geographies.
